Welcome Parents
Mazel Tov on having a new UMass student in your family! We are excited to welcome them to campus and support their needs and interests in any way that we can.
Your student is now part the most vibrant, diverse and caring Jewish community on campus. UMass Hillel is constantly expanding - we support more than 1,200 Jewish students through 10 student-led groups and our pluralistic approach welcomes all who wish to explore the full spectrum of Jewish life. Our staff is always meeting with students to engage them in the community, empower them as leaders and talk about what they want to experience on campus. We do our best to identify students but as an independent campus partner, the university does not share Jewish student data with us. Please encourage your student to get involved! Our staff creates a wide array of programs that span social, cultural, and educational experiences. (Did you know that our Hillel House is also home to up to 24 residents and we provide dormitory-style living, as well as free Shabbat and holiday meals to all students?)
Our welcoming and safe community and the Hillel House is home away from home to Jewish students, and our caring staff is also available to ensure the overall wellness of your students. Should you ever any have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our main office at (413) 549-1710 or contact Executive Director Rabbi Aaron Fine.
As a parent, we invite you to become involved with our Hillel Parent Council and we recommend that you “like” our Hillel Facebook page, join our private Parents Facebook page, and follow our Instagram page to help you stay informed about the latest announcements and experiences available to your students and our community. We also encourage you and your student to sign up for our weekly newsletter, News4Jews.
There isn’t anyone in the world more important to us than your student and our mission is to empower them through the vitality of Jewish life so they can cultivate purposeful, healthy lives and relationships that better our community and world.
