UMASS HILLEL INTERNSHIPS
Role: Development Intern
Time Commitment: 10-15 hrs/wk from September-May, with occasional late night commitments like phone banking or attending donor events (3-5 per semester).
Pay: $15/hr
Description: We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Development Intern to assist with donor stewardship, grassroots fundraising, and development operations. This part-time role is a great fit for a student or recent graduate who is organized, personable, and eager to gain real-world experience in nonprofit fundraising and relationship-building. Students studying business or interested in Sales Development, Customer Relationship Management, or CRM systems will find this work especially relevant, as the skills and tools used closely parallel those fields.

Role: FreshFest Student Co-Chair
Time Frame: 2-5hrs/wk from January-August + Attending FreshFest 2026
Pay: $500
Description: Intended for someone who has already served as a Freshfest Facilitator, the FreshFest Student Co-chairs will be in charge of planning and leading FreshFest 2026! Throughout the Spring Semester they will meet for 1-2 hours a week to plan Freshfest and will engage future students through direct outreach and tours of Hillel. They will be involved with hiring and recruiting the other Freshfest facilitators and in the Fall Semester they will follow up with Freshmen after Freshfest.

Role: Mashgichim
Time Frame: Self select hours
Pay: $15.50/hr
Description: Mashgichim will be trained in kosher supervision and tasked with ensuring Hillel’s kitchen use is following the standards of kashrut. Mashgichim are required to become trained in laws of Kashrut and Servsafe certified.

Role: New England Shabbaton Chair
Time Frame: 1-3 hrs/wk from September to February + Attending the New England Shabbaton from February 20-22
This Volunteer position includes free attendance at the New England Hillels Leadership Shabbaton
Description: The NE Shabbaton Chair will work with a team of students and staff across the region to plan a fun, meaningful, and engaging shabbaton experience for Jewish students. They will also advertise the experience on UMass campus and organize a cohort of UMass students to attend this event. This is an ideal position for students passionate about event planning, Jewish study, Shabbat experience or are interested in working in the Jewish non-profit world.

Role: Service Engagement Internship
Time Frame: 1-3 hrs/wk from September-May
Pay: $50 per program (up to $500 throughout the year)
Description: We’re looking for students who are passionate and driven about social justice and community outreach. SE Interns will support the campus community by increasing student engagement around social impact issues that resonate with YOU! Interns will plan up to 10 service or learning opportunities that engage at least 25 unique students. Examples of projects have been related to climate justice, food justice, housing insecurity, reproductive freedom, and more. The Service Engagement Internship is great for students who are dedicated to making change in their local and broader community and are passionate about a social justice cause.

Role: Social Media + Marketing Interns
Supervisor: Rachel
Time Frame: 5-10hrs/wk from August-May with some assignments over Winter Break
Pay: $15/hr
Description: Hillel is looking for 1-2 Social Media and Marketing Interns to assist with creating a strong Instagram page, advertising events on campus via digital and physical media, and procuring good photos that can be used for future marketing campaigns. Familiarity with Canva, Google Forms, and photography skills are encouraged. Interns should be aware of current social media trends and be willing to be featured on social media for content like reels. Marketing and Communications majors are encouraged to apply, and anyone else interested in brand management.

- Attending Hillel Events to get good photos
- Walking around campus and putting up fliers
- Submitting digital materials to The Pulse and other on campus digital marketing platforms
- Increasing engagement on Hillel’s Instagram by following trends, making original content, and encouraging viewers to interact with our page
